Franklin is a Senior Policy and Regulatory Consultant in Cornwall Insight’s Australia office. He has had close to 10 years’ experience in the Australian electricity market and has worked both in the consulting environment and in the public sector. Franklin’s current role focuses on regulation, policy and market insights across the Australian energy supply chain including wholesale, network and retail sectors. He leads Cornwall Insight Australia’s Energy Market Perspective publication and is a key contributor to the firm’s other market intelligence publications such as Energy Spectrum Australia and Market Alerts Service.
Trained as an economist with a PhD qualification, Franklin started his career as an economic modelling consultant where he focused on quantitative analysis of the National Electricity Market (NEM) and provided advices to a wide range of clients from the public and private sectors. Before joining Cornwall Insight Australia, he was a Principal of Market Design in Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) and worked extensively in the NEM market design and regulatory processes.
Franklin’s combined consulting and public sector experiences gives him a unique insight into both the commercial and regulatory dynamics of the Australian energy sector. This allows him to effectively identify key regulatory and commercial risks and opportunities for clients and provide targeted advice based on their needs.
